Title I Program

Every year, Nesbit School receives Title I monies from the federal government.  Title I monies provide financial assistance to schools with high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.  At Nesbit School, the staff, School Site Council and English Language Advisory Council all weigh in on how Title I monies should be spent.  Currently at Nesbit, we use Title I monies in the following ways -- 1) professional development for teachers so that they are able to provide the best possible education to targeted populations utilizing best practices in curriculum delivery; 2) after-school intervention services for target population children who are not working at grade level; 3) curriculum materials that will enhance learning of target population children not working at grade level; and 4) family outreach specialists.
